BIGTREETECH IO2CAN V1.0 adds a CAN interface to 40-pin GPIO host boards using the MCP2515 SPI-to-CAN controller path documented by BIGTREETECH.
Why use IO2CAN instead of a USB CAN adapter?
- Uses the host board’s 40-pin GPIO/SPI header, keeping the external USB ports free.
- Hardware selector supports Raspberry Pi/CM4 orientation and BIGTREETECH CB1 orientation per the official BIGTREETECH setup guide.
- Good fit when your Klipper host is already mounted close to the electronics bay and you want a compact CAN HAT-style board.

Intended use
Use this as the host-side CAN interface for Klipper printers running CAN toolhead hardware such as an EBB36 CAN Toolhead Board, BTT EBB SB2240 CAN V1.0, or BTT 3m CAN Bus Cable wiring path. For a host SBC in the same ecosystem, see the BTT Pi V1.2.
Gotchas
- This is not a USB-to-CAN adapter; if you specifically need USB, compare it against the U2C CAN Interface Board.
- Software setup is required. BIGTREETECH’s guide uses SPI, MCP2515 overlay settings, CAN network configuration, and Klipper’s
canbus_query.pyworkflow. - CAN toolhead boards, cables, and the host computer are separate unless explicitly included in your cart.
